Assoc Prof Dr Chow Yok Wai is a Consultant Nephrologist and Physician at Pantai Hospital Ayer Keroh, Melaka. He also serves as an Associate Professor at Manipal University Medical College and as a Senior Lecturer at the International Medical University, Malaysia. Dr Chow is certified by the Malaysian Board of Nephrology and the Malaysian Board of Internal Medicine, and is registered with the General Medical Council of Great Britain as well as the Malaysian National Specialist Register in both Nephrology and Internal Medicine. Dr Chow obtained his MD from USM and achieved membership in the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 2003. In 2010, he was conferred the Fellowship of the College of Physicians of Edinburgh, United Kingdom. He furthered his expertise by completing a three-year Nephrology Fellowship Programme in 2005, followed by advanced nephrology training in vasculitis at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Since 2011, Dr Chow has served as an expert panel member for the Malaysian Dialysis and Transplantation Registry. He has also contributed to the Malaysian Dialysis Quality Standards since 2016 and has been involved with ResetHealth Malaysia, a technology-enabled metabolic interventional programme for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Obesity, since 2021. Dr Chow’s achievements have been recognized with several awards, including the Prime Minister’s National Science Award in 1993, the Dato Dr Zaki Morad Best Nephrology Fellow Award in 2008, and the Young Investigator Award for his research on cognitive function in haemodialysis patients at the 11th Asia Pacific Congress of Nephrology in 2008. Throughout his career, Dr Chow has demonstrated a commitment to advancing nephrology and internal medicine through clinical practice, academic leadership, and contributions to national health registries and quality standards.
