Dr. Navin Kumar Devaraj is a Medical Lecturer and Clinical Specialist (Family Medicine) at Universiti Putra Malaysia, with expertise in family medicine, dermatology, occupational medicine, and medical statistics.
Dr. Navin Kumar A/L Devaraj is a Medical Lecturer and Clinical Specialist (Family Medicine) at Universiti Putra Malaysia. He holds an MD (Doctor of Medicine) from Universiti Putra Malaysia (2003), a Master of Family Medicine from Universiti Malaya (2016), and a Diploma in Practical Dermatology from Cardiff University, Wales (2009). He has also obtained certifications in Occupational Medicine, Medical Statistics, Scientific Writing, and is a Certified Medical Impairment Assessor (CMIA). Dr. Devaraj has demonstrated proficiency in English, Bahasa Melayu, Chinese, and Hindi. His academic and professional journey is marked by a commitment to both clinical practice and academic excellence. Since November 29, 2016, he has served as a Medical Lecturer and Clinical Specialist in the Department of Family Medicine at Universiti Putra Malaysia. He has been recognized with several awards, including the Malaysian Research Association Incentive (2015), Universiti Putra Malaysia National Academic Award (2017), and multiple prizes for poster and oral presentations at the Malaysian Society of Hypertension Annual Scientific Meeting (2018). He has also received the Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang and was a finalist at the Majlis Anugerah JINM, both from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2018. Dr. Devaraj is an active researcher and has served as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on various projects, including studies on hypertension, lipid-lowering therapy adherence, resistant hypertension among the elderly, and blood pressure variability and cardiovascular events. His research has been supported by self-funding, the Putra IPM Grant, and a Pfizer International Grant. He has an extensive publication record, with articles in journals such as Archives of Medical Sciences Civilization Diseases, Med J Malaysia, Ethiopian Journal Of Health Sciences, Malawi Medical Journal, Rwanda Med J, Iran Red Crescent Med J, Oman Med J, Acta Med Port, Rawal Med J, and others. His work covers a wide range of topics, including case reports, letters to the editor, and original research on hypertension, lipid-lowering therapy, dengue fever, antibiotic resistance, and more. He has also contributed to professional magazines such as Berita MMA and has co-authored a practical guide on supplements. Dr. Devaraj has presented his research at national and international conferences, including the European Society of Hypertension Annual Scientific Meeting and the International Society of Hypertension Scientific Meeting. His presentations have covered topics such as blood pressure control, metabolic syndrome, chronic kidney disease, dietary salt intake, and cognition in elderly hypertensive patients. He maintains a presence on professional networks such as LinkedIn, ResearchGate, Academia, and Google Scholar, and his author profiles can be found on Scopus and ORCID. Dr. Navin Kumar Devaraj continues to contribute to the advancement of family medicine and primary care through his research, teaching, and clinical expertise.
