YABhg. Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad is Malaysia’s longest-serving Prime Minister, holding office from 1981 to 2003 and again from 2018 to 2020. He graduated with an MBBS from King Edward VII College of Medicine in Singapore in 1953 and began his career as a government medical officer before establishing a private practice in Alor Setar. His medical training instilled in him a diagnostic and problem-solving approach that influenced his leadership style. As Prime Minister, he spearheaded Malaysia’s transformation into a modern industrialized nation through policies like Vision 2020 and major infrastructure projects including the Multimedia Super Corridor and Putrajaya.
