Dr. Low Ming Yoong is a Cardiologist at the National Heart Institute Malaysia with extensive training and multiple publications in cardiology and cardiac device specialisation.
Dr. Low Ming Yoong is a Cardiologist currently serving at the National Heart Institute Malaysia. Born on 23 September 1989, he is a Malaysian national and holds the MMC Registration Number 68355. His academic journey began at Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan St. John (1996-2001), followed by Sekolah Menengah Victoria (2002-2006). He pursued A Levels at Stamford College and Kolej Teknologi Timur in 2007 and 2007-2009, respectively. He then attended Melaka-Manipal Medical College from 2010 to 2014 for his undergraduate medical education, earning his MBBS degree. Dr. Low's postgraduate qualifications include the MRCP (UK), with Part 1 completed in 2015, Part 2 in 2016, and PACES in April 2018. He further specialised in cardiac devices, obtaining the Clinical Cardiac Device Specialisation (CCDS) in 2020 and the European Cardiac Device Specialisation (ECDS) in 2021. He also achieved CEPS-A in 2022, the European Examination of Core Cardiology (EECC) in 2023, and EACVI (TTE) in 2024. Professionally, Dr. Low began his career as a House Officer at Hospital Melaka from 2014 to 2016. He then served as a Medical Officer in the Department of Internal Medicine at Hospital Selayang from 2016 to 2019. From 2019 to 2024, he was a Clinical Fellow in Cardiology before assuming his current role as a Cardiologist in 2024 at the National Heart Institute Malaysia. Dr. Low is registered with the Malaysian Medical Council (Number 68355) and holds an Annual Practising Certificate (APC No 34795). He is a member of the Malaysian Medical Association, National Heart Association Malaysia, Malaysia Heart Rhythm Society, and Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society. He has contributed extensively to the field through numerous publications. His work includes case reports and research articles on topics such as thyroid crisis management, the impact of the SARS-CoV2 pandemic on acute STEMI care, dual node physiology, coronary artery disease in diabetic patients, and real-world experience with leadless pacemakers. He has also published on epicardial ventricular tachycardia ablation, percutaneous coronary intervention outcomes, non-fluoroscopic 3D mapping, pre-excitation induced cardiomyopathy, cardiac amyloidosis, and complications related to implantable cardioverter defibrillators and pacemaker implantation. Dr. Low's dedication to advancing cardiology is evident in his clinical practice, ongoing education, and scholarly contributions. His expertise in cardiac devices and interventional cardiology is reflected in his active participation in national and international professional societies and his consistent publication record. Through his work at the National Heart Institute Malaysia, Dr. Low continues to impact patient care and the broader medical community.
