Prof. Dr. Chee Kok Han is a Professor at the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, specializing in internal medicine and cardiology, with extensive experience in research, teaching, and clinical leadership.
Prof. Dr. Chee Kok Han is a Professor at the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya (UM). He holds an MMED in Internal Medicine (2002) and an MBBS in Medicine and Surgery (1995), both from Universiti Malaya. His academic and clinical expertise is centered on internal medicine and cardiology, and he has played significant roles in both research and education throughout his career. Dr. Chee has served in several key administrative positions, including Head Coordinator for Primary PCI for STEMI at Klang GH-UMMC since July 2015, and as Head Coordinator within the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine since February 2013. He was also a member of the Master Part 1 Exam Question Vetting Committee from 2013 to 2015 and acted as Head of Department at University Malaya in September 2015. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the ASEAN Federation of College of Cardiology, American College of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, and the National Heart Association of Malaysia, where he also served as a council member from 2018 to 2020. His contributions to the field have been recognized with a Certificate of Excellent Service from Universiti Malaya in 2014. Prof. Dr. Chee has an extensive publication record, with numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals covering topics such as cardiovascular disease, atrial fibrillation, peripartum cardiomyopathy, and advanced imaging techniques in cardiology. He has contributed chapters to books, including annual reports for the NCVD-PCI Registry and clinical management texts, and has presented his research at national and international conferences as a plenary and invited speaker. His research leadership is demonstrated by his role as Principal Investigator in multiple national and international clinical trials, focusing on cardiovascular outcomes, anticoagulation, and novel therapies for heart disease and diabetes. He has also served as a consultant and advisory board member for various pharmaceutical and research organizations, contributing his expertise to the advancement of cardiovascular medicine. Dr. Chee is dedicated to education, having supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students, including PhD and master's candidates in cardiology. He has also contributed as a reviewer for medical journals and participated in international disease registries and engineering collaborations aimed at improving cardiovascular health outcomes. In addition to his academic and research activities, Prof. Dr. Chee is committed to public education and social responsibility, participating in public awareness programs about heart disease and appearing on media platforms such as NTV7 for World Heart Day. His career reflects a strong commitment to advancing cardiovascular medicine through research, clinical practice, teaching, and community engagement.
