Fa’iz Bin Mashood is a Cardiology Fellow at Institut Jantung Negara with extensive experience in internal medicine and cardiology, and a strong record of academic achievement and scientific publication.
Dr. Fa’iz bin Mashood is a Malaysian Cardiology Fellow currently based at Institut Jantung Negara in Kuala Lumpur. He has built a solid foundation in medicine, beginning his education at Sekolah Agama Menengah Tinggi Sultan Hisamuddin in Klang, Selangor, followed by studies at Selangor Matriculation Centre in Banting. He then pursued his medical degree at the Faculty of Medicine, University Malaya, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2016. Dr. Mashood’s postgraduate achievements include obtaining the Membership of the Royal College of Physician of Ireland (MRCPI) in 2022 and completing a Master’s in Medical Science (Research, Cardiology) at University Malaya in 2024. His clinical career began as a House Officer at Hospital Shah Alam from 2017 to 2019, followed by a Medical Officer role in Internal Medicine at the same hospital until 2020. He continued his work as a Medical Officer in Internal Medicine at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) from 2020 to 2022. He advanced to Registrar in Cardiology/Internal Medicine at UMMC from 2022 to 2023 and then served as Clinical Specialist in Cardiology/Internal Medicine at UMMC from 2023 to 2024. In 2024, he commenced his current role as Cardiology Fellow at Institut Jantung Negara. Within the institution, he has taken on administrative responsibilities, including serving as a member of the RCA Panel Incident No: IR7620 and the STEMI Clinical Pathway (CPW) 2024, and participating in public health events such as World Heart Day and Karnival Kesihatan Madani. Dr. Mashood has actively contributed to professional meetings and conferences, presenting both posters and oral presentations on topics such as acute pericarditis following mRNA COVID-19 vaccination, MIS-C in adolescents, ECG risk assessment in heart failure, and remnant cholesterol levels in acute coronary syndrome patients. He has also served as a speaker and facilitator in various workshops, webinars, and community health talks, sharing his expertise in cardiac health, ECG interpretation, and patient care. His research output is substantial, with multiple scientific papers published in ISI-indexed journals, including the International Journal of Cardiology and IIUM Medical Journal Malaysia. His publications cover a range of cardiology topics, such as acute pericarditis, ECG risk score models in heart failure, lipid markers in atherosclerotic plaque burden, and heart failure mortality. He has also contributed to SCOPUS and non-ISI journals, authoring case reports and studies on lupus nephritis with COVID-19, MIS-C in adolescents, and hydropericardium in pregnancy. Throughout his career, Dr. Mashood has demonstrated a commitment to advancing cardiology through clinical practice, research, and education. His active involvement in academic and public health initiatives highlights his dedication to improving cardiovascular care and knowledge dissemination in Malaysia.
