George S. Stergiou, MD, PhD, FRCP, is a Professor of Medicine & Hypertension at the Hypertension Center STRIDE-7, School of Medicine, University of Athens, Greece. He is recognized for his extensive contributions to the field of hypertension, particularly in blood pressure monitoring methodology, technology development, and validation. Professor Stergiou currently serves as the President of the International Society of Hypertension, reflecting his leadership and influence in the global hypertension community. He is also the Chairman of STRIDE BP, an international organization dedicated to blood pressure measurement methodology and technology. His commitment to advancing the field is further demonstrated by his role as a member of the ISO Committee on blood pressure monitoring equipment. Previously, Professor Stergiou was the Chairman of the European Society of Hypertension Working Group on Blood Pressure Monitoring and Cardiovascular Variability. In these roles, he has contributed significantly to the development of standards and best practices in blood pressure measurement and hypertension management.
