Dr. Suraya Hani Kamsani is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at the National Heart Institute, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with extensive clinical and research experience in cardiology and electrophysiology.
Dr. Suraya Hani Kamsani is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at the National Heart Institute, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She has built a distinguished career in medicine, specializing in cardiology and electrophysiology, and has contributed significantly to clinical practice and research in her field. Dr. Kamsani began her academic journey at MARA College, Banting, Malaysia, where she completed the International Baccalaureate from 2001 to 2003. She then pursued her medical education at the University of Melbourne, earning a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Medical Science between 2004 and 2009. During her studies, she achieved High Distinction and was listed on the Dean’s Honours List in 2006. Her postgraduate training included membership in the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 2014. She furthered her expertise with a Basic Echocardiography Certification Course from the National Heart Association of Malaysia in 2017. Dr. Kamsani is a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (Physician) and a Physician Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (Adult) through the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners, with certifications obtained in 2018 and 2020, respectively. She is also registered as a cardiology specialist in the National Specialist Registration since 2020. Dr. Kamsani’s clinical experience is extensive. She began her professional career as a House Officer at Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah, Johor, Malaysia from 2010 to 2012, followed by a role as Medical Officer at Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Bahru, Malaysia from 2012 to 2014. She then served as an Internal Medicine Clinical Specialist at Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom, Kluang, Malaysia and Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Bahru, Malaysia from 2014 to 2016. Her journey in cardiology continued at the National Heart Institute, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where she was a Cardiology Clinical Fellow from 2016 to 2020 and subsequently a Cardiologist/Electrophysiology Clinical Fellow from 2020 to November 2024. She further honed her expertise as an Electrophysiology Clinical/Research Fellow at the Royal Adelaide Hospital from April 2022 to March 2024. In December 2024, she assumed her current role as Consultant Cardiologist/Electrophysiologist at the National Heart Institute, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dr. Kamsani is actively involved in professional organizations. She is a member of the National Heart Association of Malaysia, Malaysian Heart Rhythm Society, Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society, Heart Rhythm Society, and European Society of Cardiology. She also serves on the committee of the Young EP Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society and is a Journal Editorial Fellow of Circulation: Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology. Her research and academic contributions are reflected in her numerous publications in reputable journals. Selected works include studies on left bundle branch area pacing, pulsed field ablation, outpatient commencement of Sotalol, and the relationship between obesity, hypertension, and atrial fibrillation. She has also co-authored articles on diastolic dysfunction grading and cardiac state dynamics in atrial fibrillation. Dr. Kamsani has presented her research at major scientific sessions, including the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society Scientific Sessions and the Heart Rhythm Scientific Sessions in Boston and New Orleans. In recognition of her contributions, Dr. Kamsani was awarded the Fellowship of the National Heart Association of Malaysia (FNHAM) in 2023. Her dedication to advancing the field of cardiology and electrophysiology is evident through her clinical, academic, and organizational roles.
