Dr Nor Hazlin Binti Talib is a Consultant Family Medicine Specialist and Head of Clinic at Batu 9 Health Clinic, Selangor, with subspecialty training in Addiction Medicine and extensive experience in clinical practice, research, and academic supervision.
Dr Nor Hazlin Binti Talib is a Consultant Family Medicine Specialist and currently serves as the Head of Clinic at Batu 9 Health Clinic, Jalan Hulu Langat, Cheras, Selangor, under the Ministry of Health, Malaysia. She holds a Masters in Family Medicine (MMED) from the National University of Malaysia (UKM), completed in 2011, and a Medical Degree (MD) from UKM obtained in 2001. Her academic journey began at Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Kamil 1, followed by Sekolah Menengah Kamil, Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) Special Programme, and UKM Express Matriculation (Science), culminating in her medical qualifications from UKM. Dr Nor Hazlin began her medical career with an internship at General Hospital Kuala Lumpur in 2001, followed by medical officer roles in Seremban General Hospital and Air Puteh Health Clinic, Terengganu. She pursued postgraduate training at Kajang Hospital and Pusat Perubatan Primer, UKM, Cheras, before her gazettement as a Family Medicine Specialist at Tengkera Health Clinic, Melacca, in 2012. She subsequently served as a Family Medicine Specialist at Tatau Health Clinic, Sarawak; Peringgit Community Clinic, Melacca; Kajang Health Clinic; and, since March 2020, at Batu 9 Health Clinic, Selangor. Dr Nor Hazlin undertook subspecialty training in Addiction Medicine in Primary Care from 2020 to 2023, with training placements at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Klinik Kesihatan Masjid Tanah, Centre for Addiction Studies at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, and Fresh Start Clinic in Perth, Australia. She is registered with the National Specialist Registry (NSR: 134278) and the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC: 37669). Her research and publication portfolio is extensive, with ongoing and completed projects focusing on cervical cancer screening, influenza vaccination among older persons, management guidelines for behavioral addiction, and various studies on addiction, internet use, and public health. She has contributed to multiple journals, including the International Journal of Public Health and Clinical Sciences, International Journal of Mental Health Promotion, Journal of Indian Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, and PLOS ONE. She has also served on editorial boards and as an honorary editorial advisory board member for MIMS Family Medicine. Dr Nor Hazlin has been recognized for her service with the Anugerah Khidmat Cemerlang (Award for High Achievers) from PKD Kemaman, Terengganu (2005), and PKD Hulu Langat (2021). She is actively involved in cocurricular activities, including chairing committees, serving as a trainer and speaker at national and international conferences, and contributing to guideline development and public health initiatives. She has held leadership roles in the Malaysian Family Medicine Specialist Association (FMSA), including President (2022-2024), Vice President (2020-2022), and Honorary Secretary (2016-2020). In addition to her clinical and research work, Dr Nor Hazlin is committed to academic supervision, serving as a site supervisor for postgraduate students in Family Medicine and as a supervisor for gazettement processes. She has also contributed as a part-time lecturer with Manipal Melaka Medical College and as a trainer and medical examiner for patients preparing for Haj. Her dedication to advancing family medicine and addiction medicine is reflected in her numerous roles as speaker, panelist, trainer, and committee member in various national and international forums. Dr Nor Hazlin's career demonstrates a strong commitment to clinical excellence, research, education, and leadership in family medicine and addiction medicine in Malaysia.
